i never experienced that in highschool, but i did in college. oh what fun! of course on weekends we would get plastered and forget our sorrows.
btw, when your head is about to explode, do something physical. i had this buddy who owned a ping pong table and we used to study for university exams together--this sounds dorky, and it probably is, but playing ping-pong while fielding random test questions at each other relieved a lot of stress. you can also try the peripathetic approach. (you think "peripathetic" will go on your vocabulary quiz?)
