However, you are absolutely wrong when you assert "the current opium yield in Afghanistan is more than the whole cocoa crop in all of South America".
I found on the wikipedia that in South America they grew about 260,000 tons of cocoa, while according to the UN (
http://www.unodc.org/pdf/research/AFG07_ExSum_web.pdf) in 2007 there was only 8,200 TONS of opium produced. In my nutball world, 260,000 tons is alot more than 8,200 tons, but in your world atari, I guess not.
