Global warming is actually a misnomer. The climate change that the term "global warming" refers to means that there's an incremental rise in the planet's temperature over time. But that doesn't necessarily mean warmer or colder weather--it means that the temperature change has upset the "balance" in the earth's climate such that it causes bigger extremes of weather, cold, hot, huge swings in temperature in a region over a short period of time, or maybe an exceptionally cold winter one year then a warm one the next. Or bigger storms, like Katrina, and more tornadoes in the Midwest (or even places that didn't have many before).
