Space Ritual is one of my all time favorite albums actually, though as you say, it 'aint stoner rock. Certainly an influence on them, especially Lemmy's bass lines (essentially the same he used in Motorhead just massively slower). But where stoner rock would have metal riffs, Hawkwind have moog and pedal distorted wind instruments. The weirdest thing about them is how influential they are to early punk bands, not only the Pistols which Lydon always openly admitted, but lots of west coast U.S. bands too.
