Jesus, it's just a broad term to describe a sound, who gives a shit what it's called?
I know what people are saying; "math" rock.. every rock is "mathy", it all involves counting and numbers, but the DEFINITION of math rock is: highly technical music with lots of time changes, etc. etc etc. Same for something like IDM... IDM definitely sounds different than, say, house music. Why pay attention to the genre name?

agreed, genre names make life easier, there is no band that is totally "unclassifiable", well maybe some, but if so its very few. IDM however is one of the genre names that I really like, "intelligent dance music". It sounds very fiting. Aphex, Autectre, Squarepusher, Boards of Canada, and most of the WARP roster are definiteley dance music, but far more intricate and interesting than youre standard Chicago Acid House group. Speaking of Squarepusher, anyone know if hes comin out with anyything in the future?
