I'd like to say that I don't mind people being in bands that are inevitably shit (which they, this is a fact I'm afraid) so long as I don't have to see them. As it happens, I'm going to see a band this evening who are thoroughly decent chaps, genuinely very fun people, whose music is unspeakably dire, possibly the worst I can think of. They have recently signed quite a tidy record deal. It's not great, and they can't give up their jobs, and they'll probably sell some records, but it is absolutely turgid bollocks. And will add to the shitpile. If I were in charge, I'd make sure all bands played where I wasn't going to be. My own fault for having too many mates in bands, but there we go.
