you cant get quickbooks working with wine, but it does work using crossover office
most windows apps will work flawlessly using either wine or codeweavers software

and yeah i also need to get myself a laptop.

i've been checking the diy options and one can get an high-end laptop for about €1300 (cheaper in other countries since i pay 21% vat)
