Actually, this is a very clever and well-timed marketing ploy by the music industry to get more people to buy LPs instead of CDs. The industry has realized its mistake with the whole digital revolution thing, including that music becomes easier to copy. So this move is to discourage people from buying CDs and to encourage them to buy LPs instead.
I think it's fucking brilliant! And long overdue.
