I don't get it. I really dislike these games, I think they're boring, I'd rather play Um Jammer Lammy, Rez, Parappa, Frequency, Space Channel 5, even DDR and Beatmania are more fun... I played Rock Band.. the guitar shit was the same ol' shit but the drums were really cool. It's pretty unfortunate that Guitar Hero III is just destroying Rock Band in sales... I mean, yeah, Rock Band IS twice as expensive, but $80 for Guitar Hero III is pretty fucking ridiculous, too: You play a bunch of songs, only a few of which are good, a few times, a few more times with your drunken friend, and then you never play the game again. Big fucking deal. $80 gone.
That being said, somehow, someway, I do end up playing these games, because everyone I know buys them up. There are all these fucking guitar hero guitar-controllers randomly spread around people's houses, owned by no one in particular. My girlfriend's brother got this game for christmas, and I played a few songs on it, particularly "Raining Blood". I'm no rhythmic god or something, but I found the game incredibly simplistic (on Medium). I just played a few songs on there and I never lost... except for the hardest one on there.. some Fall of Troy song on the "bonus songs" list... which actually is a pretty cool tune.. by a shitty band.
(I haven't played the Dragonforce song yet -- there is one on there right?)
(Oh, and I gotta say, playing "One" by Metallica is REALLY funny... you know.. the DUNDLEDUNDLEDUNDLEDUN part; even though it's more fun to play on a real guitar...........)
Anyway, more power to people who enjoy this, but I think what would be fucking AMAZING is if they made it so you actually learned guitar when you played the game. It'd be a little more expensive, but it'd make sense.. an actual guitar that needs to be tuned and shit and it teaches you chords and notes... and you could slow the songs down in the game to slowly learn them. May take out the "game" element a bit but would be .. I mean, fuck, I'd buy it (if I didn't know how to play guitar) (but I'd probably still buy it, because it could probably teach me a thing or five).
