The most effective way society has of coping is to find humor in tragedy.

Why is it that once a certain amount of time passes, it is considered more acceptable to make light of horrific events? People make jokes about the Oklahoma City bombing quite casually; it seems to have reached the expiration date on its power to evoke sympathy and horror. Has the requisite time period simply not passed yet for Columbine?

Human beings possess the deadly combination of taking things far too seriously, and being utter hypocrites.
