so well, there's a huge poser contigent within their fanbase (of course, not all of them are) and yes, once the fad goes away, battles will prove if they are a good band by releasing good albums to people who like what they do and don't care what's "in" or "cool".

i have mirrored on vinyl and i think it was a good investment even if the album is not perfect.

I have to admit I didn't know Battles until Mirrored but I bought Mirrored within a week of its release because of the buzz in my town about it, friends and record store clerks recommending it and stuff like that. That probably didn't make me the hippest person to lay down the coin for this obviously, but I wasn't doing it as a poser, only because I wanted to hear some great music. I don't like that many people buy on the "cool" factor either, especially if they never listen to the album. At the same time, if that buzz gets them into a great band, how can that be wrong, really?
