capote wasn't a best picture-- it had its flaws-- at times even was a bit dull

but the acting was FUCKING SUPERB.

crash was a better movie, as a whole.

BUT-- from that year, i liked "a history of violence" or "broken flowers" the best. sure, not the greatest film from either cronenberg or jim jarmusch, but both wonderful. then there was "the squid and the whale", and woody allen's return to form with "match point" (cool fucking movie really). i fell asleep with brokeback mountain.

in general though 2005 was a sucky year for american movies.
