I went to the bookstore today.
All were available except the Gibson. The Hugo came with a DVD of the silent film version. A brand new complete edition of all of Beckett's works just came out. It's awesome.
If you guys pick the Gogol, keep in mind that we'll have to decide on a translation. There were two available at the bookstore I went to: Garnett and Pevear/Volonkonsky.
I vote for the Beckett, #5. Not too long and I've read most of his other novels. They kick ass. My preference goes like this:
Beckett
Nabokov
Gogol
Hugo
Gibson
