Magik Markers
LP
The Spring Press No Cat
LP
£18.99

Brand new limited LP in a run of only 250 copies on heavy vinyl featuring the expanded Markers line-up of Elisa Ambrogio, Pete Nolan, Joshua Burkett on bass and Steve Gunn (GHQ) on guitar. Three tracks: "Relax In A Panic Free Atmosphere" recorded live at The Smell, Los Angeles, "When Big John Gets Up" live in Cleveland and "Come Back To The Five & Dime, Tex Watkins" live in Denton, Texas. The sound is more expansive, heavier and dramatic than recent Markers outings, with lumbering rhythms stapled to the floor by slow, arcing heavy-g drones and a flow of automatic vocals from Elisa that sound somewhere between Lydia Lunch circa "Death Valley '69" and Julia Cafritz of Pussy Galore circa "HC Rebellion". Indeed, the addition of Burkett and Gunn take this one right back to the devolved Sonic Youth sound of the first Markers Ecstatic Peace disc and Elisa's whole Manson spiel on the flip only heightens the overall scum/fuck atmosphere.
