What am I supposed to wear? Polyester? Khakis? Chinos and cashmere polo shirts? We are talking this shit is so not rock and roll, you know. I say this only in half-jest, but I'm sorry, as somebody who almost literally grew up on 1960s American pop culture and beyond, and rockandroll in particular, I find almost every "adult" alternative to jeans and T-shirts as normal everyday wear completely alien.

I guess I could swear off the things of my youth and just give in to the polyester buttoned down world. But what fun is that?

For myself, though I don't spend a lot of money or thought on it, fashion is still a lot of fun, and definitely, when I can afford it, not something I'd ever want to "be above." It's just a hell of a lot of fun.
