Just want to clear up this point. As far as I understand it, Lee never originally conceived the lyrics to this song. They are quoted from Eric Emerson's LSD-fueled rant in Andy Warhol's Chelsea Girls. In an audio interview that was out around the time SY were promoting Daydream Deluxe, he mentioned sitting in the cinema, watching the film, when the Emerson scene appeared and how he grabbed a paper and pen out of his pocket and just began scribbling the words down as fast as he could.

Not that this presents a rebuttal to the evidence suggesting Lee's drug use. I just had an urge to readdress the origins of Eric's Trip's lyrical conception as briefly laid out by Dead Air. And it's a pretty cool story worth, in my opinion, the telling.
