Perhaps so yes, Waters was pretty reactionary and austere back in the day, and though I do think he's a pretentious arrogant prick, he genuinely had conviction about what he was writing about, and when I saw him at Earl's Court a few years back when everyone used Southhampton Dock as a loo break I felt genuinely bad for him. And also, he can't be THAT much of a control freak, afterall he was in The Pink Floyd Sound 65-68 when it was entirely Syd's band. Doesn't really seem to be in his character to be in 'someone else's band', but yet he was.
