I only have a few compilations and some Zamir stuff (co-incidentally enough). It's one of those genres, like a lot of 'folk' stuff, that it's infinitely preferable to see live than on record. Unlike a lot of 'folk' stuff, anywhere with a moderate Jewish/ Eastern-European population should put on a night or two relatively frequently. I find the local Polish clubs (in most cities, it seems) are good for this and related musics.
