mine: more important than I let on, less important than what you think
other people:depends on what the expectations are of the person. If there aren't any, then not important, but if I'm supposed to meet with a great doctor and he shows up with one shoe, torn pants, a trenchcoat full of holes and dreadlocks (not the hip (as if that really exists) kind, the lack of bathing kind) then I would be worried, at least to the point of talking with him. Despite what everyone wants to think about themselves and others, image does matter, you can't help it, this was ingrained in you by the media and society since you were a baby. I wish society in general didn't put as much emphasis on image but they do and it is gonna rub off on you no matter how hard you fight it.
