I will throw out the Red Hot Chli peppers

Their first three albums are pure funk punk enthusiasm, some real funky jams in there

then they became more focused on the rock and became more of a hard rock alternative type act, with mothers milk and blood sugar sex magick, which were still very good

then they became straight up classic rockin, with their ballads, and a new sound wholly devoid of funk.
