Huh?
I said I'm glad you liked this movie, but I thought it was pretty pisspoor. It's nice you can get into Romero's zombie films for their social commentary (man that was a ridiculous sentence haha), but I don't think he's made a good film in a long time.
I'm sorry I insulted your sacred cow, but if you pay attention, most people tend to agree that he's just not a very good director. And I never denied Night of the Living Dead as an important movie. But.. uh.. a LOT of directors make important films and then release shit afterwards. It's not a big deal.
I just think Romero's films are generally disappointing; he's no Tobe Hooper (who I hate pretty much everything by) but he has just seemed to half ass everything since Dawn of the Dead.
And in all honesty, you really think all of his films are great? The Dark Half is horrible. Monkey Shines is pretty shitty except for the hilarious quadrapalegic sex scene (in all reality, I think Monkey Shines could have been decent but it was way too long and the ending was ridiculous). His half of Two Evil Eyes is absolutely AWFUL. Land of the Dead is a joke of a film, and Day of the Dead is boring beyond belief until the last 20 minutes or so. And I'm never bored.
I can respect what he's done for horror movies and his influence but I'm not going to pretend he still makes quality films. But when he does make one, I'll be the first to praise it. Honesty is great!
I'm going to say something which will probably read as condescending but I mean it in the nicest way possible: I am very familiar with horror films, VERY, as in I own well over 800 and I've seen probably 3-4 times as many as that from all over the world... and I think a lot of people might get value out of some movies because they haven't seen anything better. But.. I've seen better, and I'm not impressed. No biggy.
