ironnicaly, im wearing an iron maiden shirt right now.

i didn't talk about quality or comparing any of the two in my post, i simply commented on their level of ambitiousness.

ride the lightning was ambitious compared to kill 'em all, but it definitely has no "rhyme of the ancient mariner" in it. if i were to compare powerslave to any metallica albums in terms of ambition, i would say it's close to ...and justice for all.

and while we're at it, as much as i love metallica's 80's heyday, a few weeks ago i was listening to all my megadeth albums and, give or take an "anarchy in the uk" cover, megadeth were side by side in terms of musical quality with metallica. and they weren't the only ones to give them competition playing amazing thrash shit.
