godheadSilo "SKYWARD IN TRIUMPH"
Sub Pop, 1996

Sludgey somewhat noisey rock with only bass (played out of 4 amps at the same time with different distortions on each one!), drums (shockingly minimal in parts), and distorted telephone vocals. Stereomeltingly great! Super decayed low end with unique dirty production, oozing with nastiness. Ridiculous amounts of distortion and a really "who cares" approach to songwriting, including one memorable part where the highest note on a bass string is played by itself for a good 5 minutes. Think Lightning Bolt but with more of a stoner vibe. Lightning Bolt meets Melvins as recorded through a telephone perhaps? Really great stuff... Often pegged as straight-up noise rock, but that doesn't do them justice, as they have some great riffs and melodies to back up their shit.
