I have a friend who's become so paranoid he's now on some pretty serious depression medication. When I visited him recently, I think I saw part of the reason why. He watches junk-cable news, Cops, and shit like 48 Hours. Pure adrenalin-junkie train-wreck journalism.

I don't even watch network news anymore. I get all the news I need from a newspaper occasionally and a reputable news magazine, and even that sometimes is too much.

I much prefer a steady diet of escapist movies on Showtime and TCM.
