Similarly, I've listened to parts of the debut and Queen is Dead and just kind of went, meh. But I keep hearing how great those albums are, and I look at my collection and wonder why I don't have them.

I think the Smiths can take quite some time to get into, I'd say Hatful of hollow is better for a start.
