Most of the people I know who are into "freak folk" are jacking off to this one quite furiously, surprisingly. I suppose the inner 12 year-old Metallica fanatic is calling back.

Me...I think this is just a tremendously shitty attempt at trying to forge their old sound. None of it sounds natural at all and Rick Rubin's completely lifeless production techniques didn't help save the music either. Iunno. I'd say it's worse than St. Anger. At least that album was funny because it was laughably bad, but this is just depressingly bad. The sound of a really tired band out of ideas (c'mon, Unforgiven III?!) that should have quit over a decade ago, I think.
