Rob's right about having enough money and the right support group meaning you can do it pretty much indefinitely.
I've tried it, thought I was Archie Shepp for about 15 minutes, then threw up.
I didn't think people bought into the whole Rock n Roll thing enough to bother with it anymore. I thought it was just prostitutes and newspaper journalists that bothered these days.
I was friends with a few serious addicts in the early 90s, when London's 'indie scene' had a similar influx of smack to the one it seems to be having now. A pathetic thing to watch really.
