see i agree, but when it comes to acid mothers, i actually LOVE hearing them wank. and theres only a few musicians who i can listen to noodle and show off on thier instruments/(usually) guitars for long periods of time (hendrix, eddie hazel who actually rivaled hendrix for playing ability and made maggot brain which is essentially one loing amazing noodle, john mclaughlin, fahey, bailey, miles davis, coltrane, etc..), but i could listen to kawabata and his band of merry fucking wierdos just jam and make wierd sounds and all sorts of psychedelic chaos for hours. literally, all i did yesterday was blow off a paper i have due soon, got stoned all day, and tried playing along with some of the AMT ep freakouts on my guitar. it was exhausting and exhilirating, then me cunt next door neighbor called the cops on a noise complaint, thats when i passed out for 12 hrs.
have you heard the kawabata solo record? he does a jam with tatsuya that is just nutty. two of the best musicians to have ever graced japan/the earth just totally freaking the fuck out.
i think AMT could be one of my favorite bands, but for some reaosn i always fail to include them on my best of lists and stuff, which again goes back to the fact that they havnt had one defining "record", like they havnt had thier 'fun house' or 'trout mask', but theyve had shit loads of great smaller records with amazing music scattered all over the place. in any case, they rival shit like smegma, hawkwind, cromagnon, and parliament as the most psychedelic band ever in my opinion.
