New York's leading indie-rock band inked with one of New York's leading independent label.
The band, which
revealed it parted ways with Geffen last month, inked with Matador Records, the label announced yesterday (Sept. 9). The label plans to release the still-untitled follow-up to 2006's
Rather Ripped (review) (Geffen), early next year. Matador scored worldwide rights to the new label, except for a Japanese release.
"For Matador, the opportunity to work in partnership with a group who?ve made such an profound impact on our roster/hometown/collective consciousness was one to jump at," the label said in a statement.
