This year my art course at college will be centered around following the style of a painter- doesn't really matter who, but I want it to be someone's work I enjoy so I can have fun with it. I originally chose filipino painter Manuel Ocampo as my style model. Here's his work;
Of course, today, my tutor shot this down because it's "too controversial", completely missing the point of the painting, but whatever. Anyway, I need to come up with a new artist for monday and I'm having trouble finding one that really grabs me yet won't be too much. I was thinking Hieronymous Bosch, until I realised his style would be far too difficult to replicate. I would've gone with Jose Guadalupe Posada, but he's not a painter..
Suggestions? Basically I'm looking for someone similar in style to Ocampo- vaguely religious baroque but politicised.
