I've heard Austoned.

When I checked out the bats, I was under the bridge on the SOUTH side. The whooosh of them emerging was insane, really ! Millions and millions !!

One of the coolest things I enjoyed was going upstream at Barton Creek about a mile from the (developed) pools. When the water is flowing (spring mainly) it flows over smooth flat rocks at times only a few inches deep. You can slide along, thru the shallows..over small falls and thru little channels along the way. Gibby Haynes and his buds used to do this and they called it Butthole surfing. That was the inspiration for his band's name, so goes the local legend. I did it and had a blast. Just make sure you keep your hands underneath your ass for protection from BUMPS you will make with the rocks.

It's a scene. Ask around on where to park and hike in. It's basically a small canyon.
