DANIEL JOHNSTON "YIP/JUMP MUSIC"
1983, Self-released/Stress Records/Homestead Records/Eternal Yip Eye Music

Well over an hour of beautiful minimal pop music by millionaire songwriter Daniel Johnston. Instead of focusing on the lo-fi sound of the music (which, in my mind, does add to the sound of the album but...) or Daniel's "crazzzzinessssssss", I'd just like to mention that these are all absolutely brilliant songs. Some compare Daniel to the Beatles; I dunno about THAT, but I will say that he has a genius mind for creating harmonically sound pop music. I enjoy most of Daniel's albums (mainly the early ones; after the major label releases and stuff, the music became too textured and I think the appeal of the minimalism of his music was gone)....... but this is the one where I think every track is really special. I have to give special mention to "Almost Got Hit By A Truck".
