He will have to make a LOT of unpopular decisions, but I'd rather an unpopular but competent leader anyday, as opposed to the populism of Blair et al. The US econemy in recession, the endless Iraq/Afghanistan situation, the even more endless Israel/Palestine issue, the problems with access to oil and other natural resources, the healthcare/welfare issue....Barack's in-tray is going to be a very full one, to be sure.
