The United States of America was not founded with 50 states nor can the realization of the Manifest Destiny be included in the "founding" of the nation.

bullshit! California is as fundamental to the formation of America as New York. It is simple, is california not a state of the United States of America? If yes, then the foundations of California are equally the foundations of America, because last time i checked CA was part of america, and so its foundations are the foundations of america as well. New york is not more america than cali, nor is pennsylvania more american than Texas.
America is a formative nation, there is no foundation period, it is a nation of continual change, and the western united states has been pivotal in this historic process. Further, the history you speak of is only applicable to a select proportion of faithful, patriotic white americans, however, unfortunately for they mythical version of america, Americans consist of a shitload more people than these white folks. The national myth of the "founding fathers" is bullshit, but Americans are more then the descendents of those musty old white dudes.
The foundations of america differ depending on the American you are speaking with, it is that simple.
