Replace the bold with "I blacked out, but continued to drink, vomited, then passed out, awoke 9 hours later with a killer hangover and no memory of the previous 9 hours" and you've got the reason I've cut back on the alcohol.
Also Slavic roots. In the above fiasco^, I had about 1/3 of 1.75L of straight vodka.
