If he wants to get high, maybe. But I get the feeling he is look specifically for this music, not just something to get high too.
I know a lot of people who don't smoke who like stoner rock. I know one guy who plays stoner rock, and is sort of embarassed that it's called that. Whenever he talks about his music he says "It's kind of like Fu Manchu and Kyuss..." and people always say "Oh, stoner rock?" It sort of bums him out a little, but he just loves the music.
