I know a lot of people who don't smoke who like stoner rock. I know one guy who plays stoner rock, and is sort of embarassed that it's called that. Whenever he talks about his music he says "It's kind of like Fu Manchu and Kyuss..." and people always say "Oh, stoner rock?" It sort of bums him out a little, but he just loves the music.

Yeah. There was a bit of a deal about that on stonerrock.com. they had a poll trying to find a name that wouldn't exclude non-smokers. 'Desert Rock' seemed like a pretty popular alternative for a while, although I think the amount of fans that actually live in the desert is even less than those that don't smoke.
