It isn't a remake...... according to Herzog. Don't know why they kept the title "Bad Lieutenant" if it's not a remake (and it's definitely not a sequel). The same title, characters, concepts, and probably plot points seems to equal "remake" to me but not according to Herzog. So, okay.

Also, a Western Battle Royale has been in the works forever. Should be hilarious.

Did they give up on remaking Suspiria? Good.

There are some good remakes: The Fly and Scarface come to mind right away. But remakes are usually pretty pointless. On the other hand, no one's forcing you to watch them. The original film is always there. And sometimes, a great film wouldn't have been seen by most people if not for the successful remake (see Infernal Affairs).
