CANCELLED : BAND BUS BROKE DOWN. It's another week of live music on What's This Called? as your host Ricardo Wang is joined in the KPSU studio this Saturday, January 31st from Noon to 1 PM Pacific time by Seattle, Washington shoegaze and psychedelic indie rockers Levator!

Levator, who will be kicking off their west coast tour with this WTC performance (one of three gigs that day in Portland, the other two being at Music Millenium and Mississipi Pizza respectively!) self-mockingly refer to their music as "listening to Pink Floyd while reading about motorcycles". With a saxophone as a primary instrument in a moody psych pop band, it is indeeed hard not to hear echoes of Waters era Floyd. However, vocalist/guitarist/synth player Sky Lynn dreamy voice and reverb drenched strumming bring to mind the more spaced out indie rock sounds of the likes of Galaxie 500 and the Cranes. From the very start of the What's This Called? progam's tenure at KPSU, the show has claimed to bring you "experimental and eclectic music, post-punk, drone, noise, and beauty". This week's show will be orbiting far into the drone and beauty portions of those nebulous realms.

STREAMING FROM KPSU WEBSITE HERE!

Or in Portland in crunchy analog goodness:

1450 AM
in the Portland OR/Vancouver WA metropolitan area.
98.1 FM on the Portland State University campus
