In a thread about expression on another board I post on, I said that I wondered why humans are the only animal that bears its teeth and smiles when happy, rather than when threatened like other animals, and someone posted this as a response:
Then the Lord said, Lo! I will make man smile as I do, bearing proudly my pearly whites, to make him distinct from the beasts that roam the earth. And so it came to pass, but man's teeth suffered from all manner of infection, stain, imbalance and lodged food. And lo! the Lord did weep over his creation, seeing that man's teeth were imperfect without affordable dentistry and accommodating waiting rooms replete with magazines.
