yeah, olson is my fave wolf dude. the american tapes releases have been phenomenal lately. they just put out a new uneven universe 7", they have to be one of the best noise bands in the world. also, cardboard sax is uneven universe with olson himself on noise destroyed reeds. the sound is blown out noise and fucked up jazz, it could fit into the genre i describe as "psychedelic industrial death jazz". ive also been digging on the new monuments casettes; new monuments=graveyards minus olson on reeds plus c spencer yeh on violin. very chamber music like, morton feldman influenced. wasteland jazz unit's "static solar caves" is the best noise jazz ive ever heard not made by borbetomagus. the green palace tapes are rad. oh, and the wolf eyes/rubber o cement collab is brilliant, the bands compliment eachother wonderfully.

for so long people talked shit on wolf eyes and thier scene, "poor quality control" blah blah. But if you ask me, those guys are keeping american noise interesting. every label (american, hanson, aa, gods of tundra) has an aesthetic and uses interesting art and packaging.

its been easy to forget about wierd drone and harsh noise and static and cutup and musique concrete and all that because there has been so many great fucking ROCK music as of late. I think everyone on here is a rock music first' experimental second. But, I need to switch it up once in a while, and even though I've been spinning the hank IV full length non stop, there's still been plenty of cock esp tapes in my boombox as well.
