According to that article:
"A crew of engineers at London’s Abbey Road Studios have spent four years working on the remasters using new technology and vintage equipment, the press release says, in an effort to preserve “the authenticity and integrity of the original analogue recordings” and ensure “the highest fidelity the catalog has seen since its original release.”"
There's no mention as to the people actually doing it, although it's probably safe to say that George Martin will have a hand, along with some kind of supervision from Macca. The problem is that they have vested interest in the recordings. Egos are bound to get involved and Macca's history of lapses in musical judgement are near legendary.
I think they'd have been better off just getting something as close as they possibly could to the original masters, warts and all, and leave it at that. Even the slightest amount of tampering is only going to cause uproar amongst fans.
