Sorry to bump this semi-old thread, but according to David Brylawski in a recent interview with Mark Prindle, Brian Paulson (Who produced Spiderland) is producing their new record. Full quote:

"Does the new album transcend '90s indie rock? Yes. I would like to think so. Yeah, that's a good question! I don't think our new album sounds like '90s indie rock. It's hard to say what it is now. I haven't really listened to it enough. But I just think it's really cohesive, and we've been able to harness something that we weren't able to harness ten years ago. Power. Hopefully. I mean, I'm not trying to be self-aggrandizing here.
Okay. I hope that comes through in the recording. I guess it should come through in the recording. We're far enough now -
It's really good. Brian Paulson did it. He did "Spiderland." The shit sounds good."

This record should be great. Only has I believe nine songs and eight of them are apparently really long according to David.
