What age would that be? I think it depends more on fitness. If you're fit, you can wear a t-shirt or a polo. However, I have become convinced that band t-shirts look pretty ridiculous on any guy over 16. Whenever I see one on a grown man I think he's dressing like a little kid and probably doesn't even the slightest notion how to dress properly.
Women, on the other hand, can get away with wearing these and look just fiinnneee..
As for polos specifically, it depends on the role model you're using. If you wanna go for the pizza delivery guy look, there's that. On the other hand, if you have in mind more the Sean Connery or Steve McQueen look, there's that. Like any piece of clothing, you can look ridiculous or cool, depending on how you wear it.
