Laziness, that's why.
I could go on about this for hour's (and I did on the phone yesterday), but people want to get famous with as little effort as possible. Even starting your own crappy webpage had somewhat of a DIY asthetic to it. Now with myspace and such, people just let other people do the hard work and still hope to get famous. You know those stupid messages that go around, saying to get a band name by clicking "random article" at wikipedia? Bands actually
do that, because they are too lazy to come up with a name for their band, something that should be specific to them to describe their music and how they feel about it! But they are too freakin' lazy!!
But I digress. Hey, anybody remember the old ICQ?
