So when I eat out, I can be fussy. Not in a bitchy way, but if I pay for something and it's really crappy, I speak up. Also, Im a BAD liar..
Across the road from where I am staying there is a wine bar (fabulous) and a cafe (not so great). Over the first few days, I was having breakfast at the cafe. But the food was fairly 'meh' and on around the third day, the coffee was awful. Bad coffee is my deal breaker. So.. two weeks ago, Im paying for breakfast, and bar guy asks how my coffee was. And I can't lie. "Not that great." I pay for said awful coffee and leave. (without being offered to have the coffee re-made.. or to not pay)
So, today boyshape is going there for breakfast, and I tag along. I need caffiene and the 'nice' breakfast place is a bus ride down the street (which he doesnt have time for before work). From the MOMENT I sit down.. bar guy comes out and starts telling me about how they have new soy milk now.. and that he tasted it last time and it was awful, but they have new milk now... and do I want a soy latte? I join in conversation with "yeh, I like vitasoy or bonsoy, yeh soy latte please."
5 mins later, another bad coffee (which I completely expected but would have probably drank gounds in warm water at this point anyway)
"SO! how's the coffee this time? is it better or do I still suck??"
"uh, yeh it's alright." ( I can't lie

)
"oh.. hehe okay." *walks off*
2 minutes later... "So, who usually makes your coffee??"
"erm, I'm just fussy, I worked at starbucks for three years, so. "
- At this point, let me clarify.. whether you like starbucks BEANS/espresso blend or not, this has no bearing on correctly brewed espresso, nice steamed milk and a well made coffee. I'll happily drink most blends if it is made well.
"Ohh! hehe, well I can make starbucks style" ( I have no idea what he means by this, and I dont think he does either)
*I just look at him* "ok. heh, it's fine."
2 minutes later "So! that soymilk is so much nicer, some just don't work very well.."
"yeh, soymilk just steams differently. "
"OH yeh definately, with the vegetable oils and all that yeh, it does its different"
-"mhmm. water and sugar content is different too. do you use a thermometer?"
"hmm? I think we have one somewhere, yeh.. no.. why?"
-*explains appropriate temp for soy, skim, whole, etc and why*
"oh right okay, but you'd probably like the soy hotter, right?"
-"no not really"
"oh, right okay, well I think I'll try that"
*
10 mins later when we go to pay and about to leave*
"so yeh I think I have a thermometer at home I'll bring it in and try that out"
-"ok, yeh."
*sigh* I kind of wanted to tip him just for trying really hard. But I also didn't want to encourage such zealous behaviour. I'm sure I missed at least one 'interrupt' out, because I counted 7 all together.
