Actually, iso is international standard and asa is simply american standard. There really isn't a difference anymore, though there may have been in the past I would think(before my time perhaps, and this sector of my knowledge is not currently in high use). Both originate in film though, and digital is just an adaption of such standards for light sensitivity.
