Neither do I, although my lobes are stretched. I do it simply because I like the jewelry that is available for stretched piercings. I'm at an 8g, which is juuuuust big enough to see light through if you look closely enough.
With jewelry/without:
There is a point where I'll stop. I'm extremely paranoid about ripping the lobe. I've had nightmares about it.
