I was just playing around in the thurston tuning DDAF#AD, definitley see how these songs workout in this tuning, I had thought i heard less of the "pavement" tuning on this album. But man definitely need heavy strings for this though, just like that DD# tuning on rather ripped. i don't want to change string gauges right now so i've approximated... i like the DADAAD tuning mentioned earlier but landed on a variation of the two already mentioned that i now love: DADF#AD as its not as "limiting" as those very sonic unison-esque tunings.


btw, pretty sure to my ears that for 'walkin blue' and 'massage the history', thurston is in the DDAF#AD tuning or a slight varation of it.

one thing that threw me for a loop was that pitchfork ADD live performance video, where T plays the same guitar throughout (except schizo???) black and white jazz? (and it looked to me with an original bridge???) maybe i have to watch that again, but i don't think all those songs are in the same tuning ( i know schizo is obviously not)
