i mean if someone told my parents something around those lines, im sure that they would get a similar FUCK YOU but for her it is different. there is the whole family honor and stuff like that, which im pretty sure is a term foreign to almost EVERY american.

Exactly. You're both caught up in something that's bigger than either of you. It's horrible that you're in that situation but if you can remain friends then maybe at some point in the future things may be different. I hope so, anyway. Other than that you just have to put it down to the overall shittiness of life and simply try to move on.
